Hello all,
I have had my x-type for about two-and-a-half years to date, and recently I was involved in an accident. The damage to my x-type appears to be limited to the middle/lower half of the front and rear passenger doors. I have access to new doors and am looking to replace them rather than repair the current set. Wondering if there are any tricks involved in this job (door removal/replacement), or tips you all may have.

If you don't already have it I would recommend going to JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource and download the technical manual. The remove and reinstall is fairly straight forward, unbolt, unplug and install new.
The one thing I would recommend is to save the old doors until you have installed and made sure they work correctly.

 

I will use duct tape on all the edges of the door frame and body to protect the paint from chipping as you align the door.

I also tape around the hinge to protect the paint and to get the hinge back to the same spot. This will be a good starting point on the door alignment.
