Default PBT CryoStop Rotors?

Anyone ever heard anything about Performance Brake Technologies or the rotors they make for the X-type? You can get a set of four for super cheap on Ebay, but that also scares me...could they be any worse than the stock rotors though?

I dont think anything could be worse than stock discs.I have a niggling feeling I heard bad reports on these once, but I might be wrong or thinking of another kind with Cryo in the name.
PS They are selling them cheaper now:-

They look great, very similar looking to what EBC are offering, and quite cheap too ( although that could be a worry)
It'd be really nice to get some comparisons if available against say the EBC ones for example.
Nice finish too.....would look good married up to the redstuff pads.

Jim, that's exactly what they will be "married" to! I decided to order the disks and pads earlier today. Now hopefully this combo will last longer than the stock rotors/pads. And I am also hopeful that I won't be dealing with all this brake dust...yuck!

i dont get why the S-type ones are so much cheaper then the already cheap X-type rotors. Is there much of difference between the rotors for the two cars?

Cool skyjump.....sounds good mate.
When you get them fitted, take a few pics n post em! Your input on the quality of these rotors would be good too.
Maybe over the course of a few weeks you could report on their performance with the redstuff pads, after they have bedded in and offer some comparisons against stock. Its a huge topic and people are always looking for answers / alternatives.

Look for ward to your post bro

BTW, can someone let me know the proper torque specs for the X-type brakes (caliper and bracket bolts)? I definitely need to pick up a service manual...

Thanks in advance!

Well the rotors FINALLY arrived at my door last Thursday and I installed them along with the red stuff pads this last weekend. They are well made and installed without issue. Stopping power is definitely improved over stock and there is no more brake dust! At $175 shipped I am really impressed with these.

If you need something shipped to you in under a month then steer clear of these guys. They communicated what was going on (the plater was being slow) and said that normally orders take 9-12 business days. They are worth the wait if you like the price...

Yep.......an ongoing honest write up on these would be a great addittion as the question is always asked and EBC is always the name that comes up.........Alternative options are always helpful!

Turning the rear calipers back in was definitely the toughest part. I had to exert a LOT of pressure on them to make them move. Because of that I removed the rear calipers entirely and clamped them to the work bench. That allowed me to lean most of my body weight on them while turning with a pair of needle nose pliers. I planned to replace all the brake fluid anyway so this justhastened that process by draing oldfluid all over my garage floor.

My wife has been driving it for the past 4 days while I was gone, but she saysthe brakesstill feel great. I inspected the discs again tonight...everything seems to be mating up just fine and the wear looks even.

Skyjump, nice post bro and great pics too.
The rotors look really good, cant wait for your mid term appraisal of wear rates etc. Please come back in a few months or so and kee pus up to date.........If you remember a few people were concerned about the quality due to cost being so cheap?
EBC redstuff pads too?
I'm guessin the stopping power is about 10 times what it was before?
I'm just wonderin if you thought of painting your calipers while you had the wheels off and were doin the brakes anyway? A nice couple of coats of silver would really show off those pads n rotors.
Just a thought mate!
Great post.
