Default PCV valve

I've got a lot of oil on the under side of my '04 X-type and it seems to be from the pan gasket area. I was thinking that the PCV valve might be the initial cause, maybe allowing pressure in the base, and thought to replace it .Now, as I was fooling with it, I see that it isn't just pushed in to a grommet and I would like to know how to remove it.
Thanks

butch, removing the PCV valve is easy. If you look, the part just under the elbow should be square. You can take a pair of pliers or the light and give the PCV valve a slight twist counter clockwise. You only need to go 90 degrees. From there, you should see the PCV valve rise and it will be free.

Please note, there are 2 different styles of PCV valves for our cars. They are gray and purple in color. When ordering, you will get asked what color you have and you will need to order that same color.

Thanks, I don't think I would have successfully removed the valve without breaking it, but it looks like I'll have to tackle the pan next. Thanks again.
