Personalized Plate - Please Vote!
We're not sure of our choice of a Personalized Plate for our 2002 X-Type.
What do you think? Crude, Tacky, Snooty, or "Just Right"?
(Yes, I did "De-Badge" it, too)
Please give your honest opinion!
ALSO: Please post YOUR X-Type Personalized plate! This might be fun.

I should mention the one unanticipated result of this license plate:
No one tailgates the car anymore!
Even at stop lights, people give the car a wide berth, leaving at least a car length between themselves and The Jag. (I attribute some of that to a recent Auto Insurance advertisement here in the States wherein a fellow named "Mayhem" is re-ended in his Jag and says to the viewers "Your 15-minute insurance probably isn't going to pay for my Ninety-Thousand Dollar car!")
Perception is the greater part of Reality.

>If you have a red lettered plate in MA you'd better have a front plate or you won't get an inspection sticker!
Green letters baby! Had it since the early '80s...
Saab 99E, VW Scirocco, VW Scirocco, Citation X-11, Citation X-11, Dodge Spirit R/T, Mitsubishi Diamante, X-Type
They'll have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers... ;-)

"The Jag" it's perfect!
You guys are lucky, we can't get personalised plates over here.
The closest you get is a low number, & it's madness!
On sale right now in my canton, nos 18, 23, 25, 30 & 35 for $7000 each
For $5000 you can have number 61 or 91...$1000 for anything up to number 5000...
I heard number 2 sold for $15000
It's even worse in Zürich where there are >950'000 plates, they auction the lowest numbers off, ZH-1007 sold for $73'000 in 2009...
The winner is ZH-1000, which sold for $131'000 in 1998...

Wow!
I pay $25 USD a year for the personalized plate. This state has only around 670,000 population, and only about one in twenty plates seem to be personalized, so the chance of getting the one you want is pretty good.
My other $25 USD personalized plate reads "CLASSIC", and is on my 2-door Mark V Lincoln.
Those sums you mention for (only) numbered plates are pretty awesome.
I'd almost consider just slapping some Bumper-Sticker on the car, if that kind of money was the other option!

Okay...funny story about vanity plates. In the 80's I used to have a collection of antique Pontiacs. The early years didn't have the diamond insignia, they had an Indian head for a hood ornament. Therefore I decided to get a vanity plate with an Indian name on it, but the only one I could find that would fit was "Tonto".
I was blissfully happy with it until riding around the city one day and was informed that Tonto in Spanish means "Stupid".

I like it! I think it's just right. I am looking to get my custom tag ordered, but don't know wich one I like best. Maybe since everyone is in the mood I could get some thoughts too.
The idea behind it is blackened for 2 reasons. 1. I am in the process of blacking out the car. 2. I am a huge Metallica fan and it also matches their song called blackened.
BLAKEND
BLAKNED
Or just BLAKJAG
Didn't mean to take over your thread Bruce.

SouthernJag, personally I like "BLAKJAG", over BLAKE ND (near Devils Lake, ND) or BLAK NED (politically incorrect).
Just a quick check of your state's available plates shows both "CLASSIC" & "THE JAG" are unassigned. I rather figure my "CLASSIC" plate is worth more than my Lincoln, and have also put it on the Jag for fun and it looks nice.
Scarf up that "CLASSIC" plate and I bet you will make a couple of hunnerdt bucks selling it at some classic car show!
