Preventative maintenance?
I've owned my X-type for 7 years, but I've only done 20k miles in that time. I've kept up with oil and filter changes, but beside spark plugs I haven't done any real servicing. The car now has 150k miles on the clock and I expect it's time to do some serious work to make sure she stays reliable for the next few years.
I plan to do the water pump and belt, plus the accessory belt, but is there anything else I should replace sooner rather than later?

Transmission fluid. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...w-pics-183620/ Transfer case, search this forum for instructions. Brake fluid exchange. Again this forum has instructions.
Grrrr, you have a fairly complete list based on what Dell added to what you are already planning. One other thing that I would tell you to check is the rear suspension. This seems to be a trouble spot with the X-Type. The test that I recommend is a 2 fold test. The first is fairly easy in that you simply look at the rear tires of the car and see if they are leaning in at the top. If so, your upper control arms need to be replaced. I would recommend looking for something along the lines of the recommendations associated with the "Thermo Mod". It is an adjustable upper arm. Lots have installed and it fixes a lot of issues. The second check is to find 2 long sweeping corners (one to the left, one to the right, cloverleafs are good for this). What you are going to do is take the corner at about 25 mph (40 KPH) and in the middle of the corner, step on the gas like you are going to pass a car on the corner. Don't be goofey and get the car out of balance, but you want to push it a little bit. If it feels like the rear end is going to step out on you and come around, then your lower/forward links need to be replaced. Both of these problems are normally associated with excessive wear on the inside edges of the rear tires.
