Default How long do the belts really last?

I was surprised to see that the recommended interval for the accessory belt is 9 years or 160,000 miles!

Have you changed yours, and what’s the real world interval?

Same questions for the supercharger belt.

7 years but only 52,000 miles on my car.

I was thinking that having the belts off would be a good chance to check the water pump and all the pulleys for issues.

they last until they do not. changing them is cheap and quick at a shop no point in putting it off

They're different variables that depend on belts. I've seen issues from 50k miles upto 110k miles. You can check every once in awhile. If there is cracks, replace.

I've always taken a quick peek at the belts whenever I'm under the hood and have only ever changed belts when I can see cracks on the ribbed side of the belt where it goes around the tensioner. I've never had a belt (vee or micro vee) break on me in the 30ish cars and trucks I've owned over the years. As to how long it takes for the belt to get to that point, either in miles or in years, it just depends on the quality of the belt and the operating environment it's subjected to.

Thanks for the replies. I inspected the belts and they look fine, no cracks. Think I'll inspect them again in a year then.
