Problems to date
So I just purchased my jag last tuesday and shes going back into the dealer to be fixed. To me I think the car was in an accident even though carfax shows otherwise. My passenger headlight kind of shakes and when you pull off those twist lid things the entire inside of the light moves. The inside of the engine compartment is off colored from the body color (could be because they didn't use the metallic paint in engine bay but doubtful.)j My passenger rear door will not unlock or lock without manually tending to the problem. My horn honks about half as loud as it could when the alarm goes off its loud and than just fades out. When you actually honk the horn on the steering wheel its loud every time you press it. My brights and fog lights don't work at all. HAS ANYONE HAD THESE PROBLEMS OR DO YOU THINK SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY ACCIDENT.

I'm curious as to why you didn't notice the discolorazation in the engine prior to the sale......that would be a sure sign to run and not look back....
Anyway, no, the problems you mention are NOT typical of a JAG, sure we have some problems but yours sound like it was in an accident....CARFAX is only good if both parties call the police....and the police enter the info for an accident in their database. If no police was called, then there is no record....the insurance company does not release that info, only the cops....
I would take it to a body shop quick, have them look at it....see what they say....and if it's bad news, see if the dealer will exchange it......or get your money back......
If they won't work with you, i would be bring the car to them for every little thing till it's fixed right.....

RE: Problems to date
I noticed it at first but also noticed that every single thing in the engine bay was the same blue color including the firewall and wheel wells. To me they wouldn't paint all of those hard to reach areas if it was in an accident. It looks to me like they didn't use metallic in the bay. The hood is also the same way underneath where you can't see it where the edge meets the fender. The dealer says no accident and I took it for repair today and they fixed every single thing that I could think of. There is a clunk kind of sounds like a ball joint or tie rod end popping when you go in reverse or forward motion and they checked it out because they couldn't get it to do it and I showed him how and he said he looked and couldn't see anything but he'd take it back in and jack it up. I told him he could probably jerk the rims around once all weight was off and they found that it was in the drive axle. It has a 3month 3,000 mile powertrain warranty and they are going to have me take it to my closest jag dealer asap. They're going to call me tomorrow when the service guy talks to his boss.

Well that's cool.....so it's working out for ya...
As for the clunk you talk about....some reason i think that is normal for a 4x4 car....only does it in the morning....when first going into reverese? I think mines does it every now and then when the gears are not set in place.....once set it's good....4 days later....

RE: Problems to date
The dealer said its from the transfer case and I'm taking the car in tomorrow to have his drivetrain guy look at it. They are going to fix it if there is a problem. The noise occurs no matter what, it does not sound healthy in any way shape or form to me though. Even the service guy at the dealer said it didn't sound very good. I never noticed it in any other x's that I drove.???

RE: Problems to date
Yes, talk to your Jag sales person and they should refere you to a company that give you a warranty on your jag. You'll be paying monthly premiums but may come in handy since jag parts are not cheap.

RE: Problems to date
They want there to be nothing wrong with the car is my undestanding so if you already have the original warranty there wont be anything wrong with it and it will be easier to warrant the car. They sell this warranty when you are nearing your 50,000 bumper to bumper is nearing its end.

Just got back from the dealer and belle tire and I officially had the driveshaft changed. Cost of the shaft was $1082.00 not including labor!. Glad I didn't have to pay!
