Question Prop shaft bearing pics

I'm still trying to track down a whine noise I hear mostly at high speeds (starts around 65 mph). I posted a video earlier of the sound and it was suggested maybe it was the (normal) transmission sound. Also tried running in 4th gear and it made no difference in the sound. Still considering the possiblity of the prop shaft bearing needing some grease, so I took some pictures of it (the side facing back). It looks to me like there could be a little seepage of grease onto the prop shaft. You can also see a small hole on the bearing near the top of the photo - is this where grease goes? Or is there another location where the greasing needle could be inserted?
I also have a picture shown of the transfer case which could be another source of the noise.

sawduster, look on the other side of the bearing from the first (upclose) pic of the bearing. You should see what look like too plastic "flaps" laying one on top of the other. You will want to slide the needle attachment between those flaps to get grease into the bearing. Only 1 side of the bearing has this as I recall.

Question

OK, I took a picture of the other side as shown below. I guess I am a bit confused as the instuctions posted on this forum show a picture where the needle is going in to the side shown on my first post.

sawduster, I know on mine I could see a section of the bearing that looked like it had 2 thin discs that laid one on top of the other. The needle then went between them and you could inject the grease that way. It is hard to tell, but you may want to probe the red ring a little more on the first set of pictures you took and see if you can separate things a little to inject the grease there. Granted, I seem to recall that I was playing with some black plastic with mine (granted, changes occur over the years).

I found a picture (see below) of a new one and I think the arrow I drew indicates the part you are referring to. On mine, this seems to be the red area, which is maybe some type of sealant that was painted on to protect the bearing.
