purchasing an x type
#3
I've had mine for around 4 years. No huge expenses. New AC compressor around $700. ABS pump, rebuilt part, around $300 fitted. Replaced rotors and pads myself. Parts less than $200. Sump gasket was a little expensive just because it's an all day job, around $500.
Lots of talk about the transfer case. Mine has been fine. I don't drive it hard so maybe that's why it's still good.
It's not a powerful car. Most of the power is above 3000rpm. But it's a great, and comfortable, tourer. If you can find one get a 5 speed if for no other reason, the X Type is the last manual Jaguar ever made.
Also most Americans have no clue about different Jag models. In their eyes you'll be driving a fast luxury car. Enjoy the prestige!

I have had mine 2+ years now, my biggest expense so far has been tires.
Parts cost for most things has been average, maybe 5%-10% more than pinto parts.
I done normal things, intake gaskets, supercharger 0-rings.
Common issues are vacuum leaks, drive train issues, stupid vanity mirror covers, coolant reservoir, headliner.
