If anyone buys the U480 off eBay, holding the scroll button for 45 seconds tends to do the trick. Hot resetting the codes. It’s not listed in the physical manual of the code reader.

I looked it up on line and it tells you in the manual how to hot reset it with the scroll button. That's how I knew to tell you about it. I read a pdf of the manual.

I think I found the pdf you're talking about. The physical manual does not include that tidbit.

So look up the codes here, there are lots of threads on causes and fixes. Example =

I am going to finish the P0174 code first.

https://autoservicecosts.com/obd2-codes/p0174/

Based off the information from this website I am going to clean the MAF sensor.

By following this website (https://autoservicecosts.com/obd2-codes/p0174/) I am essentially doing a tune-up so I figured I may as well do the rest of the tune-up.

I am also going to:
  • Change the spark plugs
  • Check the air filter
  • Clean MAF sensor
  • Clean throttle body
  • Inspect and replace (if necessary) the serpentine belt

While changing the plugs, change the upper and lower intake gaskets while you're in there.

I have not made any new changes since my last post. Today while driving home, I slowed down to stop for a red light. Before I was completely stopped I noticed my “low oil pressure” and “battery” light come on. My car was no longer running. I was able to quickly stop the car, start it, and finish my drive home with no other problems. I hooked my code reader up and only had “P0174, C1145, C1175, P0174 pending, C1145 pending, and C1175 pending”. I reset the codes and nothing new popped up.

P0174 is a lean code for Bank 2 or could be between the MAF and the throttle body. Double check how you tightened that accordian hose before the throttle body. Or make sure there is no split in it. Must be a pretty big leak to cause teh car to conk out like that.

I’ll double check how it’s tightened. I’m replacing the O-rings once they’re delivered. I hope this’ll fix it.

hi, as i understand it the moment you get a "DCS system fault " the cruise control is disabled!!!! ........so i wouldn't worry about it . your cruise could be fine!!
i have a intermittent problem with my ABS at the moment, it comes and goes ,sometimes for seconds and other times weeks. The ABS light/fault trigger the "DSCsystem fault" which triggers " cruise not available ".The moment the light goes out i have my cruise back. Whenever i manage to get to the car with the intention of finding the little........ gremlin he vanishes.

Hey all.
I have been reading through these forums for awhile now, and was wondering if anyone could give me any additional guidance.
P0300
P0301
P0303
P0305
P1313
P1316 *replaced upstream bank 1 O2 sensor and this went away
DSC System Fault (Constant)
ABS Light (infrequent)
Car will accelerate and everything fine until (typically) in 3rd gear upwards of 3500 RPM it will cut out and flash the CEL at me before becoming drivable again. Will occasionally do it in 2nd or 4th gears, but typically I can run 1st, 2nd and 4th up to ~6500 RPM or so before it begins to do the same thing.

I have replaced or have had replaced the following:
Spark plugs, coils, O2 sensors for Bank 1 (and associated gaskets) and battery.
I don't want to drop another absurd amount of money just to keep this thing running.

From what I gather,
ABS speed sensors and catalytic converter (bank 1) need replaced?

Check "the big 3" for vacuum leaks (probably IMT's).

Then check the coil wiring.

What it comes down to, is that the Yellow/Green wire from each of the coil packs for cylinders 1, 2 and 3, join together to a single Yellow/Green wire that goes to Pin 131 of the ECU. This single wire is either broken, giving an open circuit or shorting to ground. Either of those two will cause a spark failure to cylinders 1,2 and 3, hence also getting the P0301, 303 and 305.

All the other wires to the coil packs are either individual that would not cause three cylinders to misfire together, or are common to all six coil packs (like the power supply and the ground circuits) and would cause all six cylinders to misfire if faulty.

Remember, it's a single Yellow/Green wire from the ECU up to a splice point where it divides into three, one to each coil pack. If the fault is a short to ground, that fault could be anywhere along the single or triple wire system, but if it's a break making an open circuit, then it has to be on the length of single wire as it affects all three coil packs.

Dell,

Do you have any advice on starting to figure out the DSC system fault? That's mostly what I'm worried about. I'm not sure what all this affects in terms of performance capability - is it actually disabling traction control or inhibiting the AWD system, or is it just a warning saying that these systems need attention? I've read a good deal of posts here about how getting a new battery can assist in remedying electrical issues, but I don't see that helping in my case. Would you agree?

I appreciate your patience and input!
