Default R/H Zenon Headlamp

My xenon bulb came loose and melted the reflector housing where the bulb holder plugs in, I have got it back in but sure sure if it will hold. So I am on the lookout for a good used complete headlamp, alternatively is it possible to open it and replace just the reflector?
Does anyone know if a 2009 unit will fit a 2008 car, I found a 2009 one with nice clear glass but the site says it doesn’t fit a 2008, however it looks identical.
Any info much appreciated as I don’t want it to fail the MOT because the bulb isn’t quite central and giving the wrong light pattern.

Its just occurred to me the lamp will have to be from a country that drives on the right as I live in Norway and the cutoff pattern will be on the wrong side if its from the UK where I usually get my spares, so is it possible to open these lamps and take out the reflector and fit another or is it the reflector that determines the cutoff pattern in these lamps which rules out UK spec cars.

Default Headlight Assemblies

I purchased a set of headlight (HID) assemblies from eBay for relatively cheap. The reason they were cheap was because the adjusters/levelers were broken. I also purchased a kit to repair the levelers and installed the kits.
A good set of headlight assemblies will be very expensive. I paid roughly $138 USD for the set and $20 for the adjuster/levelers. Roughly $150 for the set, and about 2-3 hours to repair the assemblies (and polish the lens). Done and done.

Thanks for your reply, I may have to go the same route, did you have to remove the front bumper to change the lights or can it be done without taking it completely off?

If you end up with used headlight, where the levelling needs to be fixed first, you might find some guidance in my old thread here, which is about the S-Type, but in regards of the principle, it's the same - just another kit you need:

I just checked the internet, because I could not remember: Yes, it looks like you need to remove the bumper to be able to remove the headlights... Removing the bumper is from underneath...

Yes, I did remove the front bumper cover. It was relatively easy to do with two people so it doesn’t twist. I followed the manual (downloaded online) and it came right off.
if you go that route, you might look at upgrading your fog lights to LED (try to stay at the same wattage and connections (plug and play)) as well since they’re now easier to access

...and if you are going to replace the fog lights, get those with angel eyes (that is an LED circle around the fog lights, which will be used as DTRL (Day time runnning light)).
Those fog light are available cheap from Chinese online sellers.

Just to give you an idea:
That's my guide for the S-Type:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...s-type-264128/

I did it on the X-Type, too. I think it were the same angel eye fog lights. The electrical connection might have been easier on the X-Type.

Thanks Peter for your very informative reply, at least now I know you can open these units. I have already ditched the halogen bulbs and fitted LEDS to my foglights.
I have a left hand drive car but can easily find parts in the UK for RH drive cars but the lamps there are made to shine to the left as they drive on the left, so I am not sure if that would work as I can’t figure out if they are in fact the same on LH and RH drive and its just the reflector or the lens that gives the light pattern. Seeing as its just the reflector that is damaged on mine I am trying see if I can just replace this part if its same as a all cars, in which case its easier for me to get one on the UK.
