As soon as I hit the Rear Defrost button, the radio gets "staticky". I can still hear the station I'm tuned to, but it's overlaid with noise. The original head unit did it, and now my aftermarket head unit does it.

Can anyone help?

 

Nope, that's normal behavior. It is because the radio antenna and the rear defroster are both embedded in the rear glass. The only way to fix it would be to move the location of the antenna.

If the radio station is strong enough you won't notice, like when I'm in Chicago. It really becomes a problem in fringe areas.

 

Thanks for the info. I might look into moving the antenna elsewhere.
