My 2002 X Type has the old radio with a cassette player. Can I do a straight plug-and-play switch for a radio with a CD player from a 2003 car?

I thought so from what I had read, but apparently there's more to it. Just posted about my experience this week; I replaced mine and it looks like it's working, but there's no sound. Tried the old one again so it's not the speakers. Guy I bought it from swore it worked in his car...
