Default Ready to reinstall BUT?

Well have everything cleaned up and looking fairly well! Started putting on the felpro valve cover gaskets and I have one that only has 10 of the 11 holes covered with gasket material? Is this something that has changed and the hole doesn't need gasket material or am I screwed?

Pulled the old gasket out and it had gasket material covering that hole?

Also in the package that I got from amazon felpro there are 4 blue pieces of gasket material that I have no idea where they go?

The other gasket for the left side valve cover next to the firewall fits fine and all holes are covered!

I know the blue gaskets that are for the bolts are there but what do these 4 go to?

Any help greatly appreciated the wife has been very patient with me but is wanting to start driving her cat again!

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Also, since we can't see the gasket we can't help with whats wrong. One thing for sure all bolt holes should be covered.

here you can clearly see where the gasket does not cover the hole on the left hand size. Everything else is good.<br/>Also the 3 plugs that came with it. There are 4 have to find the other one.

What are these for??

I would forward the pictures to your supplier and ask for a new gasket. It is definitely not made correctly. In the mean time it does appear that you have a complete seal around the cover area and as such can at least temporarily use it. It is no fun to go after the same job twice but if you can't keep the car idle while you await a new gasket, I would bolt it on.

geewillicurs, from the looks of things, having a gasket on that 11th hole is not required. You have a gasket between where the oil sits and the bolt hole. The other holes are being used more for anchor points than actual sealing points.

With that being said, if it makes you feel better, you can take some black RTV (aka, oil resistant RTV) and put a ring of it where you think the gasket would go to make up for what is missing. With the cover bolted down, the RTV will adhere to the two sides and provide a seal.

Perhaps the extra pieces are for the Lincoln engine or CA emissions?
I see the pieces in some gasket kits and not in other kits.
Please post if you find out.

Well the 4 blue ones were for the 10mm bolts that go in the valve cover first to seat the boss gasket.

The other smaller blue seals were to be used on the bolts. Although there were only 10?
