Default rear end clunk/clink

Talk about "junk in the trunk"...04 3.0 46,000 mls has developed a rear end clunking or clinking sound intermittently, more frequent than not. Not real loud. I pushed down at corners (shock check) hoping it might be exhaust, etc. could not duplicate.....any ideas on this??? safe to drive for a bit?? Handles perfectly fine

first i noticed was as i was creeping up to a stop. no gas pedal just creeping. got on a smooth back road and let car move under it's own power at idle. It is difficult to say if it is louder under power or over bump, etc. but for sure straight on

Maybe the sway bar? Check the links back under the car.

I have a sound - thought is sounded like a muffler too. It turns out I have at least one rear bushing that is shot. I found it today when I was putting new tires on it. The rear wheel will "wobble" as a result. I'm going to replace it as soon as I can find the info. It might be a good idea to jack up the back, pull the rear wheels and give the rotor a jiggle. It was very obvious on mine.
