Rear end noise

That is the transfer case in a bad condition, have the same thing. Changed the transfer case after got stuck on the road. With the new one (used) on the sound and little kick was still there but better. After a few months of driving got to same noise level. Waiting for it to break again and change it. It's hard to find a good one. Cuz there's no way to check it untill you out it on.

Worst case scenario, buy a warrantied rebuilt one like from here. Then you don't have to guess on how good a used one is from a junk yard (breaker).

1.check freeplay, make sure it is not from rear differential.
2.check oil level
3.take apart transfer case, it probably has only 3-5 gears in it, very simple, I think.,
4.Free play can be eliminated by installing extra shim.
ALLDATA doesn't have transfer case parts diagram.
