Rear suspension adjustment.

Rear suspension adjustment.
Is there any adjustment on the rear suspension?
I had new tyres fitted all round about 18 months ago (I don't do that many miles) and the offside rear is worn down to the canvas on the inside with the nearside worn also but not as badly.
The lower suspension arm bushes were renewed at about the same time.

I had exactly the same problem.
The x type has negative camber on the back wheels, so tends to wear the insides edges of the tyres.
Worn top and lower control arms cause extra negative camber also.
I bought genuine Jag arms, I have seen aftermarket ones have slightly different lengths, so affecting camber.
If the replacement upper and lower control arms are aftermarket replacements, I would suspect those first.
Just noticed you only replaced the lower arms, the top ones need to be looked at.
Paul.

Thermo of this forum pioneered a retro fit for camber adjustable rear on X types. After buying my car I had it on my to-do list but, when I looked, I already had them.

Steve M, as the X-Type gets older, the coil springs do not have the umpf that they once had. This is causing the rear end to sag a little bit. The ultimate fix is to get new springs to bring the back back up to where it needs to be. But, like was mentioned, I found a part that works on the X-Type to give you one more adjustment on the rear suspension. There is an adjustment for the rear lower control arms. You can see the adjustments at the center of the rear suspension, near the differential. This will cause the tire to turn side to side as you adjust it. It won't do much for the camber aspect. This is where my mod will give you that adjustability.
If you have more questions, let me know. I know a lot about the X-Type and can probably help you get beyond what you are needing.

Steve,
As I am from the UK also, the adjustable rear upper arms I bought are here S40/V50 04-12, C30 07-13 PFS Adjustable Upper Rear Suspension Arm-Pair

Search eBay for "adjustable upper control arm (ford, madza, volvo)". This eBay vendor sells a pair for $62 ( $44 + $18 S&H ) to the UK:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Adjustable-...570.l1313#shId
Prior to installing these adjustable control arms, the rear tires on my X-Type would wear down the inner tread within 15K-20K miles. After installing adjustable control arms and correcting the rear camber, tires now last 40-50K miles.

Steve: Jaguar used the same rear, upper control arm part in the Saloon, Sport & Estate X-Types.
To see this, download a copy of the JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) from this forum: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-xmas-48052/
Or look at SNG Barratt's on-line parts diagram: https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...:WISHBONE-REAR

iownme: I assume your question is about the front lower control arm on the rear suspension. Search for "Mevotech CMS101044", or "Moog RK642135" or C2S50863. For the past ~60K miles, the Mevotech's on my 2002 X-Type are working fine.
For $20 each including S&H to the US, here's a no-name brand: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Control-Arm...itleDesc=0%7C0
For $25 each including S&H to the US, here are Mevotech's : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Suspension-...from=R40&rt=nc

thanks dwclapp and dell,
i think i'll go with the mevotech and replace the upper and lower at the same time.
I didnt know it had to be ground-bound to torque, good to know
back in 2010 i paid $100 each for these ...yup...not a pro at looking for deals...lol

Ok, so it was naff all to do with either set of control arms; the rear tracking was miles out!
The toe is supposed to be (total) 0.3 to 2.7; mine was -8.4!
He could only adjust it down to -1.4 but at least that is an improvement.
Now I've got a grumbling front wheel bearing and the replacement aircon compressor is pissing out oil.
Time to move it on I think.
