Okay, so everyone knows about the check engine ight that came up, and the whole debate about code readers..sorrry??, but these are the results fromt eh mechanic that need to be checked/replaced or figures out, STARTING WITH THE FAULTS - this is going to be long, i apologize in advance. By the way, the light disappeared this morning so yeah, quite odd, same thing, if i recall happened to ruddiger.

PERMANET P1260 security input

PERMANENT P1582 FLIGHT RECORDER DATA IS

RADIATOR HOSE ------ $327.28 ( theres a leak, he included a picture, i can post it if u want, it just shows the part, and what it looks like)
this needs to be done
labour - $178.50

The total would be close to $742.22

Theres also a vacum leak, that is apparently a major issue, its the one close to the exhuast manifold, somethins rubbing it and casuing it to fail, or break.

SORRY FO THE LONG FRICKEN THING , ANYBODY WANT THE ACTAULYL STUFF I CAN TRY AND POST IT TOO. The total for this was including oil change/ scan came to $366.

forget the 02 for the cat code p0420, its the cat, the good new is it isnt clogged. It just doesnt clean the exhaust enough to satisfy the threshold set by the EPA. So you can clear it if you buy a code reader yourself. all the other codes arent anything to be concerned about.

what vacuum leak are you referring to? The bake booster line and 1 check valve? Slip a large piece of heat shrink over it and shring to seal if thats it. And the upper radiator pipe I think youre refferring to is prone to cracking. But no pics.....

Disco, please don't use those stop leak cans to fix the coolant leak. Yes, they work as advertised. What they don't tell you is that they coat everything. The hoses (stops the leak), but also the water pump, the radiator, the engine block, etc. So, yes the leak stops, but now you are having to transfer the heat generated by the engine through more surfaces and this in return causes a larger temperature to be required to transfer the same amount of heat. What does that ultimately mean to you: the radiator has a reduced ability to transfer heat (thermostat keeps the temp out of the engine constant until it overheats, therefore with the same temp across the radiator, can't move as much heat) and also the block is going to have to run a little hotter to transfer the same amount of heat from the metal to the coolant (might as well put in a hotter thermostat, same effect). Will this kill your car overnight. NO!!!! Long term, you are looking at spending a lot more to clean up the mess that these products make.

The only time that I recommend these products is when you are in extremist situations (car overheats in the middle of the desert and you need out, car overheats in the middle of a blizzard, etc). The need to protect yourself overrides the need to save the car. Beyond that, you will save yourself money by doing the other repairs. I've heard more mechanics cuss up a storm because someone used a product like this and really fubar'ed things up. Granted, the price you were quoted for the hose I think is a bit high. Do some looking around and see what other places are wanting for that same hose.

If you want me to explain things a bit better, I can do that.

okay, thanx thermo, the cabine air fliter, i an do myself, thees a how to on this forum anyways, and i can probally get the parts for the other stuff pretty easy and for a lower cost too, this shop i ridicoulous, but its the only one that works on our cars, bmw and other eurpoean, italtin, and other high end vehicles. How much do u think the thermostats going to cost to replace. and yes the vac leak, he wasn't very specific about ti, told my dad and he's like, well some mechanics wil try to screw u over for stuff u don't need right away, or isn't that expensive to et done somewhere else.

Disco, the thermostat itself will probably cost you $15 (CDN). It is a cheap part that is not unique to the Jag. As for the coolant, I would spend a few extra bucks and do a complete flush of the system and install all new coolant. The big thing to keep in mind is to run a 50/50 mix at a minimum. For where you live, you may want to consider running say 60% antifreeze/40% water. I normally simply add a full gallon of antifreeze right off the bat, then a gallon of water, then I do quart of antifreeze, then a quart of water, quart of antifreeze...... until the system is full. That way I am always above the 50/50 mix and should I ever need to add a little bit of makeup, I don't have to worry about buying a whole gallon of antifreeze. I can simply add some water. So, you are probably looking at $50 (CDN) to do this job yourself. All you need is 1 thermostat (make sure it comes with a gasket), some Form-a-gasket to add to the paper gasket that comes with the thermostat to garantee a good seal, a bottle of radiator flush, and then 2 gallons of antifreeze (not the 50/50 mix stuff).

Disco, short of having a leak from the block itself (highly unlikely), you should be able to fix everything else as long as you have some basic mechanical skills. This would also be a good time to do the coolant flush/swap the thermostat since you will need to drain the coolant anyways. So, in short, if there was anything that you were even considering to do that involved the coolant system, now is the time.

order a replacement part and do the job on your own, while your in there like thermo mentioned do a flush, replace the t-stat and top off the fluids.

it shouldnt take you more then 2 hours for everything.

go to autopartswarehouse.com and search for your parts, send a message to ken@britishautoparts and let him know what youll need. or go to a jaguar dealer for parts.
