Hey guys I have a 03 x type 2.5 automatic. My problem is my car dies out on me but not completely. For example. Yesterday I was driving around town. Then all of a sudden my car jerks back and this red light on the dash comes on. Its a gear with a exclamation point in it. The car power just goes down dramatically. When I step on the gas the car barley drives. So I came to a complete stop and turned the car off for a minute then turned it back on and it started to run perfect again. Thing is it happened 3 times in one day. Does anyone know what this can be? Maybe a few weeks before hand the battery light was on the dash. Maybe I might need a new battery? ? That Red Gear looking thing is an indication for engine malfunction or
transmission system malfunction unfortunately not experienced enough to know what exactly it could be so I would take it to a shop

 

manuael, the red gear is for the tranny. Sounding like you are having a voltage issue. Get a load test done of your battery and if it is below 75%, replace the battery. Then see what you have then.
