Red light near coin slots.

Red light near coin slots.
Hello all,
I am the proud owner of a 2005 X-Type 3.0 A/T.
After looking through the owners manual a couple of times I cannot find any mention of the red light above the coin slots.
This light comes on when starting the car and is only on for a second or 2 before going out. What is it for? The factory fitted immobiliser or alarm system?
Also I cannot find how to turn on the rear wiper.
In the book it only mentions pushing the wiper stick forward for the Estate car. It does not push forward in my Saloon car.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the replies,
I have a couple of small cracks in the wood veneer panels.
What do you use to maintain the wood, a furniture polish?
I assume the panels are lacquered so not sure that would be effective.
How often do you treat your leather seats and what is your preferred product?
