Rev Counter Issues
Hi All,
Pretty new to this but got a problem with my rev-counter! I have a 2004, X Class Estste SE, 2.5L Petrol. It started a few months ago. When I start my engine the rev counter suddenly goes up to 6K reves and stays their; however the engine revs as it should do normaly. Then over a few days the rev counter slowly moves itself back to where it should be and works normally for a few days then the issue begins all over again. I get a few days with an inccurate rev reading (with the rev counter moving as I accelorate and slow down) then a few days working fine. My performance and MPG is not affected nor does engine management light come on !!!!!!
Anny suggestions? I read somehwere or other that I may need a new computor unit but other places said their is a link cable from the wheel to the rev counter dashboard which a sensor needs replacing. I now can not find that info. Any suggestions would be helpfull as I'm now finding it extreamy annoying as the rest of the car (it's my first Jag) is wonderfull :-)
