Default Rev counter generator

19613.8 mk2.
Does anybody know if you can run the engine for a while with the rpm generator physically removed??

It will eventually leak oil from that area. There's an "O" ring seal on the rev counter that will be gone.

If you need to run it a long time, like drive over the river and through the woods, measure the OD of the generator, find a rubber freeze plug (core plug) that expands with a nut. Stick it in the hole and tighten enough to hold it securely.
Reverse procedure to remove!

Took the car to a show probably 100kms or so, there is a fine oil splatter but not too serious. Now to figure out why the generator will not engage with the slot in the cam!!

Bushing moved. Had it happen. Mine did it 40K ago, locktited it back into place, so far, so good.
