reverse parking aide

hello, I am getting the 3 second beep as per description below.. has anyone had this? let me know please..
Parking AidThe function of the parking aid is to provide an audible warning to the driver of the distance to obstacles near the rear bumper of the vehicle when reversing. The system provides an assistance to the driver when reversing in order to help avoid collision with obstacles. The sensor range at the rear of the vehicle is 1.8 meters. This extends the full width of the rear bumper and reduces to 60cm, at the vehicle corners. The vertical range is adequate to protect the highest and lowest points of the rear of the vehicle. The system will detect curbs with heights of at least 18cm. Obstacles, such as curbs, that are low enough to pass under the vehicle until they make contact with the tires will not be detected. The system activates a specific speaker with a tone signifying the distance to the obstacle. The tone consists of a beep and defined space ratio which varies depending on the calculated distance. When the distance to the obstacle is less than 20cm the speaker tone is continuous. The reversing aid is continuously in operation unless towing when the system automatically switches off. If the reverse aid develops a fault the tone will sound continuously for three seconds when the ignition is switched on or when the reverse gear is selected.

Yeah, mine comes and goes....Sometimes it works fine, other days it gives me the 3 second beep when I put it in reverse...I figured its such a minor defect and I can park without it that I havent attempted to figure it out...The module is in your spare tire compartment...

I just picked up a OBD II code reader.. would this pick it up? it can read P, C, B, and N codes...
I did a scan, and there is nothing there. Is there anyway besides the dealer to get scanned?
I think I may pull the sensors off and see if they are all clean and well connected....

bo, a friend of mine with an 07 vw passat had his park sensors replaced under warranty for a similar sounding issue. his dealer said the park aid sensors are sometimes affected by rain or snow that sits on them too long. i cant guarantee the validity of what the dealer told him, but they just replaced the sensors in the rear bumper and the problem went away. He did not get any codes either when scanned. just the steady beep.

Next step will be to remove and check each sensor for corrosion and good connections. If that fails I will get a sensor and swap it into each position and see if the fault goes away.
Hopefully it is just a little wet in one of the sensors and I can figure a way to dry it out.

This would be the way to read all the jag diagnostics... in this particular case the fault coded for the back up beepers.
I imagine that you would have access to all the hidden programming feature that we are all dying to figure out.
