Hi everyone. This is my first post. I just purchased my dream car from 10 years ago when I was 15 and I love the X-Type. A bit of history on the car:

I've had it about a month
5 speed manual
62k miles
All routine maintenance records
One owner

I dont believe I heard this sound when before I purchased the car and as far as I remember it just started. I don't hear the sound until I'm in motion. Seems like it's something lose because when I put it in neutral and coast I still hear it. It sounds like a bell ringing under the car. Can't tell which side.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate any ideas at all. If you need more info I'll do the best I can. I'm not the best with cars. thanks!

 

I once had a noise that could be described as like a bell ringing. Turned out to be the steel disk brake dust cover just kissing the disk when I hit just the right bump. A forceful shove with a screwdriver poking through the wheel gave enough clearance to stop the contact.

That near flat expanse of steel rings wonderfully with just a small rap.
