Rotational noise in gear only and more so on load
Hi. Could anyone throw some light on this please? The symptoms are:
Rotational noise on passenger front side .
Noise is only present when in gear so eg not when coasting.
Noise gets louder the faster you get (but this may just be a a speed thing)
Noise is greater when accelerating.
The car is a 2001 x type 2.1 petrol with 60000 on the clock.
The car otherwise drives well. Brakes and callipers all recently done.
Hope that is enough information to get started with.

So the inner CV joint was just knackered. Took ages to remove it and in the end a bolt had to be welded to the metal casing to provide a purchase point to hammer it out. New one fitted and a vast improvement. With it fixed, I can now hear that the there is another problem on the other side and I need to look at that too. Most likely it is a cv joint again and hence it is time to sort that out too. I will let you know how that goes.
