Runs bad
My 2008 X type runs bad, does show a code.Had my brother Charlie whom knows his Jaguars check it out,he is a mechanic.Hooked up his Snap On Modis scan tool and it shows a PO302,a missfire code.Ran a compression check on #2,that is good.Spark plug looked good and did switch coils. No change after the coil swap.It only has 51,000 miles on it.My brother is stumped and told me I might have to go to the dealer for this one.He is out of ideas. This started yesterday by the way.Has the 3.0 by the way
You've eliminated compression and coil but Code P0302 can be fuel related:

This is the full list of possible causes from the Jaguar DTC listing. I've included the notes on misfire monitoring.

The P1316 code does appear too.My brother Charlie talked to another Mechanic that knows Jaguars too that is a good friend of his.Said it is fuel delivery system related.Luckily I did not drive it and Charlie said that is a good thing, did it in my garage starting it up
When you said you did the three things you said you did and it still misfired my first guess was the injector, wire/connecter, if it was fuel pressure more than one cylinder would misfire. That whats nice about coil-on plug set up, easier to trouble shoot, whats left, a valve, rings. Glad you found it before it cost you a first born.
My brother checked it out,saw the #2 fuel injector was leaking too.I knew I was smelling gas under the hood just before it did this.Poured in a bottle of Lucas Fuel treatment too to clean the rest of the fuel injectors. My brother Charlie knows not to throw parts at a car which does not fix the problem.I had the car towed to his shop before anymore damage happened.Did the simple checks first and he likes the coil on plug ignition system.Charlie does have European in his Snap On Modis which includes Jaguar. He has the factory Jaguar scan tool on order.
