Screen flashes ALL the time

Screen flashes ALL the time
Hey everybody,
had an opportunity to buy a lovely Jaguar X-Type from 2001, Executive model, has even a phone with it.
But my nav-screen is flashing ALL the time. It really bothers me. Yesterday I checked my Nav-DVD unit, i opened it up, got the cd out, cleaned it...
i do have image on the screen, it is just like the Nav-dvd unit is rebooting all the time.
has this something to do with the cabling, de dvd unit? And here is the million dollar question: what is a wise thing to do?
