Nav screen flashes white when turning left with full beam on..
Anyone had this before?
I noticed tonight that if I have the full beam on, then indicate left, the screen flashes white and the dash lights flicker for a micro second. Once or twice, I noticed the HID dipped lights flicker at the same time, but not the 'normal' full beam lights.
Coincidently, today a message appeared on and off on the message screen telling me my rear right brake light had failed. When my wife checked it for me whilst the message was displayed, she was sure it was working. Later I checked it up against a wall and it has failed.
I'll replace it tomorrow, but is it possible that this and the odd indicating left issue is connected?

I went to replace the stop bulb, but it wasn't broken. I tested it out the car and it works fine.
The other issue, with the full beam is worse that I thought. Even with lights set to OFF, but with the stalk in the forward position, when you indicate left the headlights all come on.
The message screen says AUTO LIGHT DELAY OFF, then if you pull the stalk back it says DELAY 2:00.
I would say it has to be the stalk, but these cars are not as simple as that are they?
If the HiDs are on, I noticed that they flash brighter just for a micro second, when I indicate left with the beam on full.
At times, there is a click from under the bonnet too.
It only happens if indicating left, with the lights on full beam, or if the stalk is in the forward position even if the lights are NOT on.
New Battery I hear you say! Would a dodgy battery cause this? Has anybody had an electrical issue that has been solved by replacing the battery?
clubairth1, where is the turn signal switch?

police666, my battery is not the best as you remember, however I have taken the stalk off which is a right PITA. How many screws does a Jag need to hold the column cowl in place?
I got the stalk apart and it all looks OK inside, but as soon as I connect it back up to the car and wiggle it, the lights issues start. It does appear to be the stalk that's at fault.
Looking closer, I could see that the red and blue wires inside the stalk were cut, but not broken.
Heres were it gets odd. When I disconnected the stalk, the side lights stayed on and they only way to get them off was to disconnected the battery.
There is not enough wire showing to solder these wires, so it looks like a new stalk, but why did the sidelights stay on? Even with the stalk disconnected.
I would love to believe that new battery would solve my various woes.....

Well great job and you fixed it before I could answer you!
Glad it was the stalk which I called the turn signal switch. But yours is a rare if not unknown problem? We see more lamp socket failures/corrosion that causes light problems not the stalk.

Thanks.
I'm getting quite handy with the soldering iron since getting the Jag.
Recently I repaired the wiring for the drivers window, which would work as and when it wanted. That fix then meant that I found that I had remote global open and closing.
