seat belt latch
my driver side (U.S) seatbelt latch has stopped accepting the seatbelt.
The belt buckle wont push down into it and the latch inside looks different from the working one.
I bought a replacement but it looks like the seat needs to come out to install it.
Is this so, and is the old latch possibly fixable in place?
thanks

You will have to remove the seat rail fasteners and position the seat to reach the fastener holding the seat belt latch in position. Plus you will need to access the module under the seat to plug in the new seat belt latch. When I replaced mine I didn't remove the seat from the vehicle. I just rolled it around for access.
If you have another anyway, it may be worth using a steel rule or a blade and split the plastic open while in place. The same fault happened to me, so I split the plastic cover open and found a sweet wrapper inside, which was jamming the mechanism. I took it out and re-glued the cover. Worked ever since.
