Default Driver seat belt no latch

It worked fine, and then suddenly it didn't. I suspect a coin or something got into the receiver part of the latch.

I'd sure rather avoid removing the seat. I am considering busting the plastic trim pieces, removing the coin and then hoping to repair the plastic.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks Dell Gailey, but I am still leaning to stripping off the plastic shell somehow.

Just be careful of the electronics inside, if you somehow trip the been in a big crash, you get an airbag fault.

Dell Gailey; that's a good thought. Are you sure that sensor is in the receiver and not the take up reel side?

ian20x: I am not sure of much, but the driver belt latches just fine into the passenger receiver.

Here's the post on the problem =

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-39211/

Also, in replacing, they are side specific. GGG's admonishment is true, but I read elsewhere, the (can't remember correct ter) "tear away" pressure portion is different in each side.

Oh and yes, if you watch the videos I posted, it seems they have no problem clipping the buckle into the passenger side. It's just stuck failure, something inside failure, or broken components inside failure.

I certainly believe electronics are inside. How else would buckling it, turn the seat belt light off. Just pulling the strap doesn't extinguish it, lol.

"In the end, I bought an extender and buckled that in instead."

I had to do this too when the latch would work only sometimes. Simple fix.
The plastic cover is riveted on.
