Default Side Mirror Quirk

I got in my car to drive last night and noticed that my driver side mirror decided to angle itself all the way down. At the same time, the passenger side mirror angled itself all the way up. Even after they reached the bottom-most and top-most extremes respectively, I could still hear the motors in each one running.

As soon as I used the switch to adjust the driver side mirror, both stopped trying to move. However, when I recalled memory 1 to adjust them to the proper positions they both did the same thing again: driver side went all the way down and the passenger side went all the way up.

So I manually adjusted each mirror the way I wanted it and re-saved memory 1. Then when I got home, I turned the car off and back on again and memory 1 recalled correctly.

Does anyone know what the hell happened? Has this happened to anyone else before?

Evan, if I had to take a guess, this sounds like your driver's seat module had a hick-up to it and it was directing the mirrors to do something abnormal. From what I can tell, there is no common item that would cause the mirrors to do what you saw other than the driver's seat module.

Because you re-programmed things, hopefully all will be good.

Yeah everything was fine this morning on the way to work and when I left for lunch. I have no idea what was going on before

Thanks Chris

Gremlins, I say.

Yesterday, I opened both my front windows half-open when I started driving to let out the warm air since the car had been sitting in the sun the whole day. After a moment I tried to one-touch close both at the same time; both went to about 75% closed, then opened to about 25% and stopped there. I tried to one-touch close them again and then both closed normally.

Stuff like this just happens sometimes I guess. If it's really rare there's no need to worry about it.

Lots of computers in our cars.

Sometimes Hal doesn't want to open the pod bay door.

Default No Idea about the Mirrors...But Windows Yes

I never knew that the mirrors had a memory setting. Do they have the memory if you have the seat memory option? My front, passenger side window doesn't always have "memory" or auto up and down. It just depends on what the Jag wants to do! Everyone, have a great 4th of July Holiday.
