Default Sluggish gear selector

After changing my gear, selector cable to automatic transmission, which definitely works better, I’m still having trouble selecting gears from park down to drive. I have looked online to see if anyone has had the same exact issue. I have what I need to know is that it seems that there is a lack of lubrication inside of the transmission as changing gears below on the transmission with a wrench it just seems like there is no lubrication. Does this mean I am low on transmission fluid or is there another problem that I am not aware of?
2006 X-type 130k miles was poorly maintained by 4 previous owners.

You probably want to have a read of this thread....might explain why the selector shaft feels tight.

That thread was exactly what I needed. A while back (3 yrs) I sprayed blaster in that area of the trans and it worked better but evidently was temporary. Didn’t put one plus one together.
thank you so much for your help. I’ll let you know the results.

SUCCESS!!
That white bushing was the culprit. I removed it and shifting action is like new. I would have never suspected it to be the problem.
Thanks again for your help!
