Default Something's running in my Jag

I have a 2002 x type 3.0

When the key is off and out and your in the car you can hear something running behind the dash. I don't have a clock or any of that stuff and everything is off and key out of ignition. Any ideas? Help

There's much going on behind the dash, but the most common thing heard is the tiny aspirator fan that samples cabin air for the aircon temp sensor. It's the small grille next to the steering wheel.

From what I recall... so used to it now so just from memory... I think mine runs for about 5 mins or so after my 2004 X-Type engine is shut off then it stops. Have been told by many that this is normal. Hope it is :-)

JOe, it is. Nothing to worry about. Kinda like if you notice, when you get into the car, the fan will start then too. It doesn't pull enough power to be a worry to the battery.

I used to have customers tell me that the aspirator NEVER shuts off. I told them it did but they insisted that it was running when they left the car and it ran when the got in so it must run all the time!!!!!!!!!!!

It's kinda like the fridge lite!!!
Does it REALLY shut off when you close the door?????

I guess you could try to talk someone into sitting in the car for a while to see if the aspirator shuts off.

You might try to get someone to sit inside the fridge to see if the light shuts off.
Back in the day, that is what little brothers were for!!!! Talk them into sitting in the fridge to see if the light goes off!!!!!!!

Now the fridges have magnets to hold the doors closed. Not like the days when we had LATCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was SCARY!!!!
