Default Prior cars

My project/fun cars:
1965, 1966, Mustang coupes that I completely converted from 6 cyl. to 289 V8's when I was 17 and 23 y.o. respectively.
1983 Mustang GT converted to 351 (425 h.p.).
1998 Mustang Cobra convertible w/road comp. suspension upgrades (2003-4).
Drove my moms 2003 Honda Civic for 8 months till I found a "doctors car"; 2002 X-Type 3.0 auto. (topaz) in awesome shape. Engine recently blew, now has a 2005 motor (48k) and full exhaust mod. I "think" my patients now "look at me"....
Wish list includes an "S" Type-R
Wife drives a late model Expedition (refuses to allow me to "tweak" the Expo. and I don't blame her).

I've probably had more cars than I can remember completely. Some were only around for a short time, but here are some of the highlights;

1980 Mercury Capri RS
1971 Mustang
1974 Lincoln Towncar
1986 ASC Mclaren 5.0_SC
1986 Linoln Mark VII LSC
1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Sport
2 1994 Thunderbird SC's
1 1989 Thunderbird SC
1995 40th Anniversary Thunderbird V8
2003 SVT Lightning
1957 Chevy 3200 pick-up
1992 GMC Typhoon
2004 Pontiac GTO (tweeked up to well over 500HP at one point)
1997 Ford Eddie Bauer Explorer (Winter ride previous to getting the X-type)

I currently have the ASC Mclaren, the GTO, and X-type. But I think I'll be swapping one or two out for something else in the spring...

in this order:

when i was 13 i built two minibikes, one had 5.0hp motor, the other had 3.5 neither had brakes!!

at 14 got rid of them got a 1976 yamaha gt 80 for free. fixed it and rode it then sold for 400!

got a 86 yamaha yz125 and blew a hold through the crank case. got rid of that.

when i was 15 i owned a 88 yz125(dirtbike) an 80's puch moped (HAHA!) and a rare yamaha motorcycle, an 87 srx 250 (sport style imported to us in 1987 only, and only 1400 came here)

turned 16 got my permits class d(car) and class m(motorcycle). got rid of the dirtbike and moped, then two months later totaled my rare bike. left with nothing...

then i got my first car at 16.5, a 91 camaro RS. 305 tbi, limited slip rear end loved it.went through two winters and then got a winter beater off my dad, his 87 s10 blazer with a crate motor in it(my mom blew the original motor) at 18

got rid of the blazer after one winter, cause i blew the 4wd.

two years later my camaro had racked up a whopping number of of times being hit while parked...over four years it was HIT 10 TIMES while parked!!! the tenth finally totaled it

then i got a 98 GMC Jimmy, drove this thing for like two and a half years untill it was on its last leg

then in 08 i traded it for my x-type. got my x it was four years old, 59.000 mi and cost me 10.5k. reason for ultra low price was gasoline was about 4.89/gal, so car prices plummeted.

spring of 09 i bought my son a 2001 yamaha PW50 for his 4th birthday, and i ride it more then him!!!

summer of 09 i bout a 1993 yamaha fzr 600 sport style motorcycle.

still got the x, the fzr and the pw. dont plan on getting rid of any of them. -stevis05

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS fully loaded that was an utter "pile" on wheels... I ended up totaling it<on accident) Into an AT&T phone box. 23K on it had it from new.

Previ to that, had an Infiniti I35 which was a car I wish I would of kept. Had heated front, back seats, heated steering wheel and a lot of power. Had a turning radius of a semi though

Before that I had:
-84 Mercedes-Benz 300 Turbo Diesel ebayed
-1983 Mercedes-Benz EURO 240D diesel with a 4-speed standard. Still have this gem!
-97' Nissan Altima- gave to little brother

All in all, Im loving this Jag more and more. I just kinda wound up with it after I'd totaled my car, my insurance company gave me like 4 days to buy a new one. My buddy workes high up at a dealership in the area. Went to him and, he kept telling me "you need to test drive this car, you will want it trust me"(even though I was eye balling a S-type R) So needless to say, he was right and Now I have my 03' X-type Sport 3.0.

I have a long list, so I'll save it to most recent -last 10 years: 1993 SAAB 9000 Aero - tweaked to run 25psi of boost and eat transmissions. Two 1985 SAAB 16v 900 Turbo's, 96 Ford F-150 4x4, 1977 Chevy K10 with 6" lift on 35's. And then my current cache as noted in my sig below. Wife also had a Honda Element for a time. I also have a 49 ****** Jeep up at my camp as a log hauler. Needs work, has "tree brakes" and no floor.

If you are only getting 13mpg then something is wrong. I've tromped on my car hard for extended periods and never got that low. Hell my Range Rover gets at least 13mpg with a small block V8 for crissakes.....

LOL I miss my '98 Accent. I want another one with a blown engine so I can do a 2L swap and compete in the GRM challenge.

According to so many other posts here... the common perception in the several fuel mileage threads seems to be "you're not driving a car for fuel efficiency if you are driving a jag... so get over it". So I just assumed that was what it was going to be...

such as this latest one...

11.8 MPG sounds a little low, but is believable with cold temperatures, short trips, and no highway driving.

Default My short list

Had to join this thread:

1970 TR6 puchased new; my first car; traded it in two yearls later for....
1969 E-Type ots; I still have it, and drive it!
1974 Pontiac Astre Wagon: sold
1960 Jaguar 3.8 Mark II: sold
1966 MGB-GT:sold
1983 Nissan Sentra Wagon: scrapped after 11 years.
1994 Saturn SW2: purchased new; sold
2005 X-Type Estate; purchased Aug. 2008

I tend to keep my daily drivers for years. 8 cars over a period of 40 years, I still have #2, and hopefully will enjoy many years with #8, as it has a mere 24,000 kms on the odo.

Cheers,

Bruce
