Soo.. just wondering what car you guys had previous to the X-type!
According to so many other posts here... the common perception in the several fuel mileage threads seems to be "you're not driving a car for fuel efficiency if you are driving a jag... so get over it". So I just assumed that was what it was going to be...

Anyway, just thought I would mention it to you and maybe that would get your wheels turning about it. I find 13mpg still way too low for this particular vehicle, based on my experience.
Best of luck if you decide to investigate. End of Hijack........let's return to the car list.
This is true. The first couple of tankfuls in my X-type (2.5L Manual trans) got over 30 MPG, lately it's been closer to 28 MPG.
I think 13 even sounds low for a Supercharged Vanden Plas. My SVT Lightning used to get 15 MPG consistantly, city / highway, driving easy or hard, didn't matter. It was always between 15 and 16 MPG.

97 Pontiac Firebird Formula convertible. 9 of 171 made like it. Got better gas milage than the jag, had a whole lot more power, was way more reliable, way more comfortable than the jag. More or less i regret the day i traded in that car for my x type that has been nothing but junk and only about a tenth of the fun. The only thing the jag has saved me from were outrageous tickets from speeding and being able to set the tires a fire even from a 55mph roll haha
Audi 100 2.6 s-line -94, nice car with nice look in black. Now it's my delivery van... but i suppose that I had in my previous life donkey as my ride.

So as you can see, I have never been a car fan, never cared for anything other than basic transportation, until now.

I bought my first Jag about a month ago to reply my 2006 Pontiac Solstice as my daily driver. I love modding stuff and the urge to mod my 2006 X-Type is there but I'm pretty happy with it as is.
I still have the Solstice for weekend drives but the Jag gets 25MPG+ on the highway whereas the Solstice was in the low 20s. That said, the transition from RWD to AWD is pretty nice.
I had two matching 1991 Cadillac STS's. One for parts and the other for the daily driver. I somehow ended up using the parts car for the daily driver near the end of the Caddy heritage.
After years and years of turning wrenches on those STS's I finally traded up for my 03 X Type Sport (quartz, dove).

First generation Cadillac CTS. Excellent car; restored my faith in non-Japanese vehicles. Would probably still have it if it had had a moonroof.
X-Type is every bit as good, and I really like the AWD

Per my signature, I had an '02 Altima which was great when working properly. Sold it when the catalytic converter blew, after getting it repaired at a different dealership. Then got the '11 Camry. It's boring and too many people have them but it's a great car, very reliable and faster than you would think. I still have the Camry but I got the X in May, it's my favorite so far.
I'd like to keep the X for a couple years and then trade it in for a new X in 2014 or whenever they come out. However, the new ones better still have a V6 and AWD or I'll take my business elsewhere.

This is my 1995 Cadillac Eldorado I had just before the Jag. Loved this car, 300HP Northstar monster and plush. However, the head gasket started to breach and things got worse from there, over heating etc. I toyed with fixing it, but to have it done right was in the $5,000 range.

And today, I drive the Jag. Have done some mods: Lowered, Magna Flow muffs, 3rd cold air pick up, KN air filter, and run super unleaded. If the Caddy had *****, the Jag makes up for what it lacks in acceleration with its incredible handling/cornering.
