Peewee read upward. Lube your park brake cables. They dry out in the heat and squeek.

Spray lube the rear hub carrier bushings. Also the rear brake pads have been known to squeek like that. Especially if they were installed upside down [8/|]

UPDATE: I took the car to a friend’s house and we jacked up the car in the 30 degree weather. We sprayed every and all bushings, bearings, and damn near all bolts in the rear of the car. We set the car back down and still made the damn sound. So we jacked her back up, took off the rear passenger tire (that is where the sound is coming from) and sprayed the top of the new shock I just had installed. The sound went away! After about 2 minutes of driving it came back so next week we are going to shoot some grease up there thinking it will last longer and hopefully make the sound go away for a long time. I wish I had a lift so I could get a better look at it but I guess I will just do what I can. I think there is a bushing on the top of the shock I might be able to replace but I did not see one.

If it is the shock you just had replaced, take it back and have them fix for free.
Just explain what you did to correct it so they know where to look.

not on the x-type rear. Held on with 2 10mm nuts at top and I think 21mm bolt at bottom. Just a regular shock. Not a strut.

I still dont think it is your shocks. Chances of you putting new shock in and noise still being there is pretty slim.
Lube the white plastic bushings in the rear hub carrier with a lithium or white grease.
Have you changed your brake pads in the rear?

its strange, that they replaced a shock because they assumed thats the issue but it wasnt? i say go back and ask them to check out what the wonderful people here on this board think it may be.

Noises are hard sometimes...shoot belle tire told me everything in the front end of a thunderbird I had was bad...700-800 dollars worth of parts later the only 2 things they never said were bad were the bad things! The upper control arms were bad on both sides and that was only 40 bucks brand new! The upper control arm houses the ball joint as well! Needless to say my knuckles, back, wallet and head were not too happy! What can I say though I had them diagnose and than I fixed it! Oh well live and learn!

i would go back but when you are under the car it sounds like it is the shock. If they did not put a new one in I would have had them do it anyways because it is makeing the noise from that area. Like i said it warmed up here a bit (35-50 degrees) and the sound is gone. plus the car does drive a little bit better.

But the noise still lurks.
Hope it stays gone for you.......but it won't. Noises tend to notfix themselves.

Mine did the same thing. They only made noise when it was warm out not cold. I thought it was due to crappy interior plastics. I will try lubing the parking cables and WD40 the suspension components to see if that makes a difference. I cant live with the damn noise anymore.
