Default spark plugs

what plugs do you recommend? are these easy to replace?

in order to change the spark plugs, the air filter and air box need to be removed to access the three toward the front of the car(left side of engine). to get to the three in the back (right side of engine
) you need to remove the intake manifold. this is pretty easy, only you will need new upper intake manifold gaskets. they are oval shaped o-rings that used to be yellow but are now updated to green. there is a plastic cap on each spark plug thats held to the head with one bolt per plug. you might want to get new tuning valve seals, and maybe a throttle body seal as well, but you can leave the throttle body connected to intake manifold during removal. as for plug reccommendation: i tried starting this thread about a week ago and had no responses. sorry, hope this helps a little

When it comes to plugs, don't go super fancy. The newer motors don't benefit from multiple spark on a single electrode, multiple electrodes, etc. Go with a brand name double platinum plug. I ran Bosch +4's on my Expedition and there was zero difference between standard double platinum plugs and those. Keep it simple and save yourself some money. You can go with a single platinum plug or even a generic plug, but then you won't be able to get the 100K miles from a set of plugs. After doing the job, while it isn't hard, you will understand why they are putting the double platinums in there.

Just out of curiosity, are the plugs the same as the Ford Duratec 2.5L and 3.0L plugs?

If so, go for Autolite double platinums (relabeled Motorcraft). IIRC, the number is APP764, however confirm that these plugs will work before going out and putting them in.

no need for all those gaskets.. they are silicone and re-useable.. you must clean the grooved and the gaskets well, but there is no problem to re-use them.
