Default Spongy Brakes HELP asap!

HI guys,

I am having trouble with spongy breaks in my car and have had the lines replaced, the breaks and rotors done and its always been a bit of a problem since I have owned the car. When I try to pump the pedal, they don't get harder. Does anyone have any links, advice or things I could do to try and eliminate to get to the diagnosis?

Im beginning to think it may be the break booster or the master cylinder.. Any way to check for sure?

Thanks a ton!

Hi Jason,
I haven't had this issue appear on mine at all but have a look at this thread to see if it offers any assistance.
Astromorg's comment might help if you are trying to detect if you have a possible servo issue, otherwise the usual suspects of some bad fluid, some air in system, or a caliper not operating properly.

Sorry, it hasn't pasted as an active link, so copy and paste into the address bar of a new tab in your browser........

Agreeing with Mark.

Brake hoses, average life is 10 to 15 years, yours are at the end, and I have had 1st hand issues with spongy brakes from hoses "ballooning".

Master cylinder from lousy fluid changes, YES.

Calipers, for sure. Same fluid lack.

Someone has changed pads WITHOUT cracking the bleed nipple, thus forcing tho old crud back into the system. and IF that crud has found its way into the ABS system, Bingo.
