Default Spring Cleaning

With spring being just around the corner I was wondering what wax people use on their Jags. Has anyone tried Jax Wax I've heard its good but never tried it. I know the Corvette people are all about Zaino. Any thoughts on what works best?

I'm going to try the Klasse All-In-One this spring.

I'll use Lexol cleaner on my leather, along with Zaino Z-10 conditioner.

sdettra, I have been known to use some 3M Perfect-It III (stage 2) on the body to get rid of all the fine swirl marks and whatnot. Then I wax the body with some Meguiar's Gold Class wax. From there, I use more of the 3M on the chrome to polish it back to a nice shine. Using some more of the 3M, I give the headlights a good buffing to get them back to water clear. You need to get your rims really clean, then the 3M stuff will do that too. You can even use the 3M product on the glass with some 0000 steel wool (not joking, give it a try and see what I am talking about).

Spring just around the corner??? Not where Sdettra comes from either judging by local forecasts caling for -20c/4f!!!!! I admire the glass half full spirit and I'll have a full glass or two of whatever you are drinking!!

We are some way off spring here too in Toronto. When the Daffodils do start to pop, I try at least once before summer arrives to clay bar the car and after cleaning and polishing, finish the job with some Autoglym HD wax. Works really well, providing you religiously avoid getting it on any of the black plastics. The black roof rails on my wagon still have signs of some of the stuff from over enthusiastic application a couple of years back - gives you an idea how enduring it is though. i then use Meguiars ultimate quick wax over the rest of the summer every few weeks and that seems to keep the rain beading nicely. Then going into winter, same thing with the clay bars and autoglym Hd wax before handing over control to the local touchless car wash which sprays some kind of ppsychadelic colored mix of chemicals over the car. who knows whats in that - my 3 year old loves it but I'm not so sure....................

Another Autoglym product, Bumper & Trim Gel, can be used to restore the appearance of black plastic.

I had a similar issue with polish on the black plastic door mirror mountings of my 2005 XK8. The gel removed the white polish residue and restored them to the original satin black.

Default My Two Cents Worth...

I begin with a clay bar routine. For me, that really helps. Once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Then I use just about any wax, but an very careful about the towels and pads that I use on the vehicle. A personal tip: I keep a log of when I wax my car and only when I clay bar the car do I wax the entire car at one time. I might do the front fenders and doors one time then the next time the rear quarter panels, hood, boot cover. I normally always wax my rims. Also, speaking of Spring Cleaning, I really like to keep my mufflers clean, because they sit below the rear of the car and depending on how you park, they show off! I use "Back to Black" on the engine. Here's to Spring!
