sqeaking noise in rear
I have a bad sqeaking noise in the rear of my 2003 Jaguar X-Type. It's really bad early in the morning and when I go over bumps. During the day it's kinda of fine though. Do you think I need new shocks?
CJR, odds are, you are experiencing bad bushings on the rear struts. This is a common problem with our cars. You can replace just the bushing or you can also get new struts.

i have never heard of this. First of all I dont know what you mean by strut in the rear?
the rear has springs, shocks, a few links, and the swaybar+bushings.
There is one of the links that wears and causes a rattle.. (like a worn out taxi rattle!) and there is also the parking brake cables that squeak when you go over speed bumps.
test the brake cable theory by driving over the bump with the hand brake lightly applied.
It is easy to deal with, dip your finger in some grease, then lie down just ahead of the rear wheels, and apply the grease to the cable sheath just where it passed though the hanger under the body.
