Sqeaky noise getting in and out of X-Type 2.5...
I just bought a used X-Type about 2 months ago and I've put in a lot of repairs in just to fix this awful squeaky noise. When I get in the car it sounds like something is ungreased and even when I drive down the road I can hear it. So far I've replaced two shocks in the rear, and four sway bars or whatever their called. I mean this mechanic has been working on this problem for almost two weeks shouldn't he have found the source by now? Does anyone have the same problem or know what might be causing that awful squeaky noise?
I own a 2002 X-Type and I am new here. I also tried to do a search on this issue but couldn't find anything.

what do you mean it squeaks when you get in the car? do you mean when you open the door?
do you mean when you sit on the seat?
"getting in the car" is about as vague as you can be... for trouble shooting you need to be able to repeat the noise, and describe exactly the circumstances when it happens.
it is when you are stopped? rolling? what gear? what speed? forward? reverse? Steering? bumps? engine speed?
basically there is no hope to help you without more information. Your mechanic is doing a lot of expensive work without solving the problem.. does he give you your money back ? where are the old parts? if the shocks did not solve the problem they may have value as used parts.

I had the same problem with my 05....I checked and check and check...finally found it.....turns out it was the emergancy cable support bracket. It's held in place by a plastic clip that the brake cable rides through. The apprant lack of lubrication made it squeak....real annoying....
Check under both rear wheels, slightly to the right/left of the lower control arm. You will see this black (emergancy brake cable) running the length and a plastic clip it rides through. Grease it up in the plastic hole and hopefully that should fix it.....

Well, I appreciate the help racerx82. I'll have the mechanic check it out. The squeaking noise happens when I get in and out of the car and going over bumps. It's almost sounds like noisey shocks that's why I had them replaced. Then the mechanic replaced all those sway bars in the rear and that wasn't it, so hopefully what you said racerx82 is it, cause I do like the car.

It's a booger to find, you actually need 2 people, one to push down on the rear (open the trunk, and have the guy push down on it) while the other one is under the car looking and listening.....if that does turn out to be the problem, i would look for another service station.....
