Hey guys,

My 2007 Jaguar X Type 3.0 has a problem with the drivers seat, as it has a persistent squeaky noise. The problem is only with the drivers seat, it has the electric adjustable controls, while the passenger seat has no problem but it has the fully manual controls. It sounds sort of like an old squeaky spring, and is most noticeable when acc/decelerating, but it is just the annoying sound the seat does not move or rattle. Its hard to completely localize the noise, but it appears to come from the lower segments of the seat. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

disconnect your seat and unbolt from car, turn it upside down and see, possibly a broken motor mount under your seat. Had this problem and found a used seat in better condition then mine on kijiji for $100, just swapped it out.

 

I checked the rails/mounts and surprisingly i found that they are all in good shape. the source of the noise was the joint that rotates to adjust the back support from the lower bench. It was dried out, by applying W40 the noise was completely eliminated. But as time has passed it is beginning to come back, I was told that 10w40 is not enough as it can dry out over time, but t by using a specific grease/oil substance that is similar to what is used in the rail motors the problem should be taken care of permanently.
