"Standard" wood veneer type for 2004 base models
Folks,
I've searched and read and googled and ... I can't seem to come up with a definitive answer on what wood veneer was used on the 2004 X-Type base model.
My two primary candidates at the moment are:
Bronze Madrona
and
Walnut (from this link: GENUINE JAGUAR X TYPE WALNUT FACIA SET VENEER KIT WITH AIRBAG AND COVER C2S51060 | eBay
I did read in a thread (somewhere on here) that you could contact Jaguar itself and get a readout of the build specs for your VIN - how exactly do we go about doing that? I tried going onto the jaguar.com site but ... all I could find was all the current model info.
Any help would be appreciated - I want to replace my ashtray (it has cosmetic issues) and my manual gear surround with wood.

They printed out the delivery spec for me free of charge.
I want to replace my ashtray (it has cosmetic issues) and my manual gear surround with wood.
I now know that these two items are "extras" and it appears to be luck if they match.
My veneer is the most expensive and last time I enquired the cost of the two items was over £300 and then fit them yourself ( v easy).

Why not just send them the VIN and ask for the original spec for the car, as henry k did (and I did, too)? You can send it to any dealer, shouldn't matter who, or visit a dealer yourself. That way you'll get a definite answer.
Otherwise, it takes an expert to recognize the grain pattern as the only veneer easily recognizable is the Bird's Eye Maple I have, since it has those unique eye-like spots.
