I have a 3.0 petrol and it's started ticking from the top of the engine. I have no idea what it could be it's a loud ticking and almost ticks/spins when I rev any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you have any clips so we can here what it sounds like? It could be multiple things, but most likely internal to the engine. You want to have it looked at pretty quickly, as some of us have had some issues that manifested quite quickly and have resulted in rebuilt engines or new engine installation. Mine is actually getting a brand new engine installed currently.

Does it sound like this?

-or-

Both are my vehicle. The first is when I first noticed the noise. The second is after being parked for 2.5 years and being driven for a total of ~30-miles since the noise appears. As you see, things can manifest pretty quickly.

Let us know what it sounds like and someone can better direct you.

Which video? The two sounds are very different.

Multiple shops told me the engine was toast. I am installing a new engine now. When I first had the issue, I was informed by the board here that it could be an exhaust manifold, but mine is definitely inside the engine, lower end noise.

I see you are located in the UK. Stick around here as there is much help to be had, but you may also want to post on the UK Jaguar Forum site to potentially see if there is someone local that may be able to assist you with a reputable shop or even diagnose it for you.
