Default steering wheel

i have searched around and can't find any answer to this issue. My steering wheel is not on straight. It is slightly miss-centered to the left. I guess it does not bother anything except me. I have had the alignment checked and everything is fine. How do i straighten it out?

Take it back to the place that did the alignment and tell them they screwed up and your wheel is crooked and you would like it corrected at no charge. It should have been given back to you straight after the alignment. The X-Type steering wheel is mounted on a square shaft and the only way to straighten it is with a properly done alignment.

the dealer checked the alignment and said it is fine. I got the car like this. So I have to have it aligned again? how much does that cost?

the alignment can be fine but the steering wheel can be upside down, the steering wheel being set straight when setting toe is part of the alignment. Like real tech said take it back to them and tell the the steering wheel is not straight, if they tell you differently ask them to let someone that knows how to align do the job right. An opps once is 1 thing, but not fixing it the 2nd time is moronic. or you can fix it yourself..if its slightly to say the left of 12 oclock turn the wheel all the way to the right and give it a good tug, the harder you do it the more it will change. This doesnt change the alignment, it slightly moves the steering rack in the bushings resulting in the steering wheel straightening up.

so you mean turn the wheel all the way to the right until it stops and then tug it hard to the right? or turn the wheel to the right until it stops then tug it back to the left?

I meen if the wheel is to the left of center turn it right till it stops and tug hard to the right. if you do too much or not enough either do again or do it to the left till you get it centered when you drive. this of course is assuming its only slightly off. oh and make sure youre not driving when you do this, but the engine can be running, and I prefer it to be personally its easier

no, and if you would have ever seen the video from Jaguar on how to repair the squeeking steering column. You would laugh at how brutal they wanted the steering wheel jerked....unbelievable. that was the first of 4 repair proceedures, actually 5 if you count replacing the rack. came down to loosening the firewall boot and bushings and greasing to stop the squeeking

I think the first suggestion is the way to go. The alignment is to get many things aligned - the car's centreline with the wheels' centerline, and the steering wheel's centre. That shop needs a wooping.

i never had it aligned. When I got the car it was like this but I did not notice. I took it in for some other issue and mentioned the wheel is off center. They put it on the rack (what ever that means) and said it is fine. The wheel thing is starting to get to me. I tried the turn to the left and tug and it did nothing. I guess I will have to take it in and get this thing straight.

Any good wheel n tyre specialist should be able to properly align your car Jvegas.....this should always include centering the steering wheel
If you've had it done recently and paid for it ...take it back and ask them to do it correctly.
If you haven't it shouldn't be $$ to get them to remedy it for you.
