X-type Ipod connectivity through cd changer?
Looking for ipod connectivity, my dealer said that it's only available on the S-type (I have the X). I'd normally quit there, but they've told me a lot of things that aren't accurate. I have the CD changer and upgrade stock sound system. Can I connect an ipod? Is there a connectivity kit that can go through the CD changer? I don't care about losing the use of my changer.
Thanks!

I have hear of the iPod to cd changer connection but not for our cars, but if you do please let me know. There are some connection that connect to a cassette tape and some that use a fm modulator. I have also seen people do wonders with the upper level cell phones that can handle large sdhc cards. Please let me know if you find the cd changer adapter or anything that I could connect a mass storage device to...

Seems pretty typical of Jaguar to not have connectivity. If you go to most sites that produce kits for ipod connectivity (isimple, etc.) they list pretty much every logo for all the manufacturers, except Jag. Just like wheels, not a lot to choose from...

There is an OEM connectivity kit. And it works with the X-Type. I believethe official name isthe Audio Connectivity Module and its generally referred to as the "ACM". Search this site for ACM and you'll find lots of discussion on it.
I have one, and I think it works great. It goes in your center armrest. It works with or without the CD changer. If you have one, you can still use it with the ACM.
A lot of dealers don't know a lot about them, so it doesn't surprise me that your dealer didn't think there was one for the X-Type.
They cost about $250-$275 plus install. Your dealer can get one for you - or they're usually available from the internet parts discounters and/or eBay. Someone can give you the Jaguar part number if you need it. There are various opinions/options on the install. If you're mechanically inclined, they're supposedly easy to do.
There is also an FM modulator option, I believe. However, the sound will not be as good.
Good luck.

I called today, the dealer again said they don't think it's available. They said it used to be, but it's no longer available. After that, they called back about an hour later and said it IS available...and it's only $895 installed!! Anybody know a reputable dealer that's fair?

I don't remember the exact number but my local dealer in Texas wanted about $325 for the ACM and $150 for the install. Both are way overpriced, especially the kit. $895 is a crime. Is it really worth $895 to be able to listen to your MP3 player while you drive? Heck, buy a bluetooth headset from Logitech and use it instead and save $750.
