Steering wheel

Hi......Depending on how deep the scratches are, you should be able to sand them out pretty quick. Wood is much more forgiving than paint. Remove the air bag, and sand the scratches off with a #300, and finish with a #600.
Tape off the rest of the wheel good, and use a marine type of polyurethane, that you brush on. The more coats you brush on, the longer it will last and the shinier it will be. Leave about 4 hours between coats.
I had to do this to an old Alfa wheel once, and it came out beautiful. The rest of the car was cherry, but the wheel was the thing that drew folks in.....Good Luck.......Mike

Thanks. These scratches are in the plastic coating on the wood not the wood. I have seen people say that they have polished out the scratches using plastic polish like plastx. Some say it works, but others say it scratches the plastic more or makes it dull. Has anyone polished the wood trim? What product is safe?
