Default Stereo connection on rear?

Hey guys, so I just installed a DD stereo into my 03 Xtype with the base 4 speaker stereo system non Nav. Now it was a pretty straight forward process, however there was a plug on the back of the stock stereo that I have no clue what it is? Now I read about the fiber optic cable but since I have the base stereo with no amp I assumed I didn't have this. I left the plug unattached and everything seems to be working fine. Does anyone know what it is? I included some pics. Thanks

Well either it's a coincidence but I think not having that plugged in is making my check engine light come on as well. I noticed the check engine light this morning and it was not on before I did the stereo install yesterday.

Good pictures Nutt565,

Near your fingernail, the fitting with the 2 inner domes is for the jaguar optical lead but as I have only adapted the rear connectors in my X Type. I am not sure of the set-up in the front for you.
Also to note if buying a lead from ebay or similar, I would advise paying particular attention to the lead ends as there is a black end and a white one and that differenciates between the male/female, typical set up made complicated as usual!!

Unless you have unplugged something else, I don't think that should upset the ECU though. BUT I COULD BE WRONG?
hang in there, someone brighter and more knowing should be along soon!
regards, Stu

When I installed my stereo I had a check engine light come on to, something about an O2 sensor or whatever if I remember correctly. I cleared the code with my scanner and has not come back since.

It didn't do it when I switched my Alpine headunit into the Jag about a month ago so who knows what happened. Just reseat everything behind the headunit and clear the code if you can (you can always unplug the battery for about 15 minutes) and you should be fine.

BTW, I like the Dual Din...makes me want to get one now...hmmm

Didn't you have to cut some of the plastic behind the head unit to get it to fit nicely?

I did a bunch of research on DD that would fit with no modifications. I went with this unit (KW-R910BT) and it fit like a champ, no cutting at all!
Now if that was a optical lead Im wondering what exactly it does on the non premium systems. From what I read it was used for the amp but since mine didn't come with a amp Im not exactly sure what is for? Lots to learn coming to a new vehicle!
