Both the front doors on my 2002 X-Type have become hard to pull open from the outside. Passengers assume their door is still locked after a couple of pulls and so stand there waiting for me to lean over and let them in. Any ideas? As I'm getting fed up shouting, "ITS OPEN", at the top of my voice!!

My 2004 does this as well with the passenger door. It seems to be finicky with how it is pulled open. My 5 yr old daughter can open it first time every time, but my wife cannot. I can open it easy as well. So I think it's just technique. It doesn't "pop" like you would think it should, but if I pull up and out, its good.

If there is something that should be lubed or adjusted, I would like to know, but it seems to operate fine for everyone but my wife.

 

just saw your reply Clyons, that is awesome! thank you very much! I'm not going to tell my wife about that though, it's pretty funny to have everyone else be able to open the door except her.

 

Haven't looked up the "how to" bit yet but just read slxj30's post and realised that the only person who has always just opened it and jumped in, no problem, is my 14 year old son!! How weird.
