Default Strange X Type Issue??

When ever I drive my X type on a cold day I notice I get a draft by my feet on the driver side. It comes from the side closest the door. The passenger side has no draft to at all. Any idea on this??

Almost feels like a vent is open but the car is putting out great heat and except for this is comfortable to drive. Mind you it does have to be around freezing to have this happen!!

THANX

Striker, are you getting wind noise as you are driving too? Does the amount of air change if you completely turn off the heat-A/C? Can you tell if the wind is coming front to back or back to front, etc?

My initial feeling is that you most likely have a rubber boot on the firewall that came loose and is allowing air in. But, this should be accompanied by a wet floor when it is wet outside (ie, water will also tend to come in). The second possibility is if someone has worked on the driver's door some recently (ie, removed the door panel to fix an interior problem). Thye may have removed/repositioned the plastic there, which can allow air to come in through the door, around the plastic, past the door panel.

THis can have a lot of possibilities. THe big thing is tracking the breeze backwards towards a point of origin. That way it will limit where you have to look.

No idea where it is coming from. Seems to get cold more toward the lower driverside kick panel!!! I have not had a problem with a wet floor on the drivers side... Just the passenger side will be looking at the cabin filter later this week. Seems to leak only when I shut the car off on the passenger side unfortunately...

Striker, based on what you are describing, it sounds like the boot around the hood release has come loose. You will need to pull the wheel well liner and look at the hood release cable. There should be a rubber grommet where the cable runs through. If you can see a slit in the rubber, then the grommet has been pushed towards the tire. If you can see the metal edge where the cable goes through, the grommet has been pulled into the interior of the car. The metal opening should sit in the slit of the grommet. Use of a flat bladed screw driver comes in handy putting the grommet back where it needs to be.
